A Reflection of You
Remember your personal office is a reflection of you - personally and professionally. If clients are likely to frequent your office, you'll
also want it to reflect your business prowess as well. If you're a designer, artist, architect or so on, your office likely should reflect your
creative side boldly. If your profession falls in the area of accounting, medicine, law or so on, perhaps a little more subdued is in order.
Once the theme is chosen, pick colors to match and start with the walls, carpets and window treatments - if you're lucky enough to have
windows. Pick items that compliment the theme you want to go with and have fun.
Now, choose the furniture. Generally a good desk, maybe a bookcase, filing cabinet and perhaps a credenza work well to create a well-furnished
personal office. Pick woods or metals that go with the overall theme while also adding to your ability to get your job done. Make sure you have
the proper furniture to accommodate your working needs, too.
With the walls done and the furniture in place, it's time to turn to accessories. No matter your profession, here's where it's okay to let a
little personality out. It's your office after all and it should make you feel comfortable while inspiring you to do your best at work, no matter
what you do.
A personal office should be not only a place to get work done, but also a room in which you enjoy being. Little touches go a long way to add
to an overall sense of welcoming.
